Help for those having trouble affording their pets

There is no other way to say it, times are tough.  As a pet owner, there are many ways to save money.  But, what do you do when faced with unexpected veterinary bills? 

Many professionals recommend that pet owners put aside money each month for such a situation, but not all pet owners are able to do that.

If you are faced with unexpected vet bills and can’t afford to pay, you can:

• Ask if your vet would be willing to work out a payment plan.
• Research local veterinary assistance programs.
• Investigate breed-specific assistance groups through The American Kennel Club.
• Ask your vet to submit an assistance request to the American Animal Hospital Association’s “Helping Pets Fund.”
